9/11/17: Updates: 1-3 homework page (evens only) due Wednesday. We will be finishing up Topic 1 this week on Friday. Students will be coming home with a study guide in their Thursday Folders on Thursday. Study guides will be due on Monday 9/18, we will go over them in class. Our Topic 1 assessment will be on Tuesday 9/19.
9/5/17: Homework this week: Due Friday, 1-1 homework pages (even numbers only) and 1-2 homework pages (all problems)
9/4/17: Students will begin to use the new EnVisions math curriculum starting this week. Students can log-in to EnVisions resources, homework assignments, and games at home by logging in to their NC EdCloud account (myncedcloud.org). Once logged in to NC EdCloud, students should click on the blue Clever icon and choose Pearson Realize. From there, they should be able to access assignments, class power points, videos and more!
8/29: Homework due Friday- Math About Me poster. Students should create a poster about themselves on a regular, printer sized, sheet of paper. Their poster must include at least 6 facts about themselves. Their poster must use addition, subtraction, and multiplication. If students would like a challenge, they may also use division. One example may be, I have 5-3 pets. This poster should be decorated and should include a picture, or drawing, of the student in the center of the poster.
8/27/17: Ms. Kane and Ms. Curts are so excited to get started with 4th grade math and push our students to reach their full mathematics potential. We will begin with a five lesson unit called Building Mathematical Mindsets. This short unit will set the tone for our whole year of math by pushing students toward a growth mindset approach to learning. Students will complete activities that help them develop a positive attitude toward math and show them that making mistakes (and learning from them) is an essential part of learning. Starting next week we will dive in to our new math curriculum, Envisions. We will begin with lessons on place value. The Envisions curriculum has many great resources including, student workbooks, math tools, on-line games and assignments as well as center activities. We will send home information ASAP with log-in information so that students and parents can access many of these resources from home.
